Post by vFelix »

Welcome to the lxde forum. I am sorry to hear about your problem. French is not my native language so I have to rely on Google translate unless a French speaker happens to answer this thread. Until then perhaps I can assist you.

I am using Lubuntu 13.10 and do not have problems. Did you back up your data before you tried to upgrade to Lubuntu 13.10? Can you boot the computer at all (into recovery mode perhaps or even normally).

Hi.
Yes I can boot the computer (without any problem).
The backup by clonezilla (15h for the disk) was made after (too bad). I made a clone of the computer (with the problem) to try things without risk (with another computer identical). So the machine is functional, but without desktop or panel (entirely black screen). The right button of the mouse is OK (for instance to log out). The only problem is a warning from HPLIB (no system tray on the system), in a popup windows. I still can print.
Thanks for you help

If you can boot the computer, can you get to your data? You said that you have been using it for a year. There must be a great deal of data that you need on there some where. If you can get to your data, copy it to some other device, flash drive, dvd, cloud, etc. Because you have an incomplete upgrade, I recommend that you download Lubuntu 13.10 and re-install. It is the easiest way to get it working correctly again.

I will try this on the clone, on saturday (WE). It's too bad to have to reinstall everything, beacuase I will loose all my sofware and différent configurations like Mails for instance.

Is it possible to re install lubuntu without lossing all my softwares and configurations?

I tried the re installation of lubuntu 13.10 on the clone, with the option to keep the softwares already installed.
I'm not lucky: the desktop is back, but, the icons can't be executed with a double click!! !!
It's not good. So I restored the clone again.

I need more advices, I'm sure the solution is simple.
For instance, how to run the desktop with a command line?
