Finally broke down and bought a new computer. I will be installing Lubuntu on it in the next few days. Have to do a little research on UEFI and secure boot. Should be fun. I haven't played with a new computer in six odd years.

Hi Rex. WOW! I thought this forum was long gone. I just fired-up an old harddrive that I haven't run since June. One of the bookmarks was this forum. I was surprised to see it pop into existence.

Congrats on the new computer. By now there are tons of UEFI fix-threads just a google search away. You shouldn't have any problems.

Had to disable Fast Boot and was able to install under Secure boot and UEFI. The only problem was the touchpad was non-functional. However, an external mouse was fully functional. The touchpad problem is gone. It may have been a bad kernel install. The new kernel works fine. Not very many of the old members have returned to the forum after almost two months of downtime. I believe people are waiting for LXQT and LXDE to figure out what is going on. Not sure. We are still here though.

I'm too cheap. I dug an old Dell Dimension 9150 outta the closet & replaced the 300 Gig SATA with a 1 Terrabyte Sata Hd, and filled all 4 ram slots with 1 gigabyte memory cards, seeing as 4 Gigs Ram is all it'll handle even thought the Pentium D CPU is 64 bits. Not too shabby for an old 2006 box. ;)

Running 64 bit Lubuntu 15.10 really great.

With that much RAM Lubuntu must be smokin'. I still have my 2004 Dell Inspiron 1000 with 440 Mbs of Ram. I have Lubuntu 15.10 installed on it and while it doesn't fly, it still functions quite well. That is the beauty of any OS with LXDE (unless of course you have to have the bells and whistles.)
