Can someone provide me details on system issues you foresee while you install a printer, any external software to be downloaded?

I am assuming that you are trying to install an HP printer. They are probably the most Linux friendly. I have used them for many years. http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/in ... index.html However, it shouldn't make a difference which DE you are using.
