I can't imaging you are changing your keyboard layout when working.
If you want to change the default layout, edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf, Core keyboard's InputDevice section.
There you should see code as belows:
Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
Option "XkbLayout" "us"
Option "XkbVariant" "dvorak-r" // Here is what your layout name is.
