Saving vertical space on a netbook

Hi
I have lubuntu on a netbook and I wish to save as much vertical screen real estate as possible.
I hate disapearing panels so I resized the panel to 20px. I also minimized the system fonts to 10pt.
Is there a way to get rid of the window title when it is maximized? the tesk bar is already telling me what program is in focus.
if not, maybe putting the title on the side of the window? I remember doing that but I don't recall if I did that in LXDE/OB.
Are there any other ways to save vertical space?
