I'm not sure if this is an LXDE or Lubuntu-specific question, but I'll try here anyway.
I install Lubuntu on a lot of old laptops for family members who are migrating from Windows. Most recently, I made a desktop look similar to the Windows Vista desktop that was previously being used. I created .desktop files with links to favored WWW search engines and news sites. The user double-clicks on these icons to open the web sites. The problem is that double-clicking is not as easy for the user as it was on Vista.
I did some preliminary research on this and the usual recommended fix is to speed up the double-click. I followed the directions and added the following to a newly created /home/user/.gtkrc-2.0.mine file:
I also tried:
This doesn't seem to be helping. (FWIW, I personally don't have a problem with the double-clicking and just keep at it till the sites open. But I want to make this user happy.)
Does anyone know if the "gtk-double-click-time" parameter is the right one to be dealing with? If so, does anyone know what Windows (Vista) normally uses for the double-click speed?
P.S. The user is elderly and likes the desktop icons, so I can't get him to use the panel.
