LXDE logout menu reboot shutdown missing

Post by kenny_w »

Hello my fellow LXDE users! LXDE is my most favourite Desktop environment! Its very lightweight & simple, I absolutely love it.
I've got a problem though, I've just installed LXDE on a AntiX 17 core installation - so I've had to install/build everything so far, I kept trying to google how to resolve this & everything led me to this lxde-logout.desktop text file, but I don't think that's the right file... Can somebody please help me get the reboot & shutdown entries put into the LXDE GUI logout menu?? I know I can always use commands but I'd really rather prefer to have the menu work.. I was hoping I'd be able to copy it from a working machine but I checked the file on my other computer & it look identical...
I'm not the most tech-savvy user, please explain these steps in detail. I want reboot & shutdown and maybe hibernate & sleep in the LXDE logout menu, you know when you click the red button in the corner, that menu that it brings up.

If you cannot find out what is causing your problem, just install a different logout program. My favorite is lepo-logout (https://github.com/hakerdefo/lepo-logout). Just download it and follow the installation instructions. Image: Image .

oh cool, thanks I will look into that.. But could you please tell me how I would edit the commands for the buttons???
-.- it only works with SystemD.... I'm running AntiX...
Can somebody please tell me how to edit LXDE's logout menu??? Please??? I really need to add in shutdown & reboot..
also, does anyone know how to get the trash icon to come back?? in the desktop preferences > desktop icons tab, it shows the trash can icon option greyed out. I installed Anti-X 17.

Starting with pcmanfm heading menu, click as follows: Edit>Preferences>Layout, and be sure Trash Can is ticked. This should put Trash Can in the pcmanfm Places menu. The command to launch Trash is: "pcmanfm trash:///". You can use that to put "Trash" essentially anywhere on the desktop or in menus. See http://lxlinux.com.

I figured out what was wrong, I was missing ELOGIND. sudo apt install elogind solves the problem with lxsession-logout!
