Hello
Sorry about my english..
The last week i was updated my ubuntu to jaunty (9.04) and i have re-installed LXDE, it works nice ..
But, each time that i minimize or maximize windows.. i ear a damn sound, when i listening music that sound is very annoying..
how i can disable that sound effects, i was tryed from gnome on sound propieties unsuccessfully
oh..
BTW.. i have problems with sound applet on lxde pannel, appears disabled and i can't change the source to PCM..
Greetings and thanks anyway
How to quit sounds on jaunty?
Re: How to quit sounds on jaunty?
The sound may be from pc speaker. Try modprobe -r pcspkr to unload the speaker module. If still persists mute the mic using alsamixer. This problem is not from LXDE.

The pc speaker sound like "beep" and just when i recive e mails on evolution..
The sounds are from my speakers, the same that i use for listen music, and there are sound effects, like the login sound on GDM

Hmm, I never heard any sounds from LXDE.
Are you perhaps running any gnome/kde things in the background?

Those are the gnome-sounds... don't remember how to turn them off on LXDE though... it was the same thing with Mandriva 2009.1
Re: How to quit sounds on jaunty?
Now I remember... You just have to go to your /home/yourusername/.config/autostart and delete gnome-sounds

I just encountered the same problem but I've solved it.
Remove libcanberra-gtk-module and restart Xsession

Removing modules, installed as dependencies, could broke something else. I would prefer to disable things.
Re: How to quit sounds on jaunty?
yeah i would rather not remove modules either but I have no gnome-sounds in my autostart folder either so there has to be a fix somewhere ?

Re: How to quit sounds on jaunty?
I have found an acceptable workaround.
Just remove the ubuntu-sounds package (with sudo apt-get remove ubuntu-sounds) and the annoying sounds are gone.
