I'm trying to put global menu to my panel in my lubuntu, but there's no "app menu" or "global menu" in panel applets/plugin.
So I tried by installing xfce4-topmenu-plugin and its required packages, I also tried to install the alternative vala panel appmenu, but none of them are working.
I still cant get my global menu in my panel (lxpanel), still no "app menu" or "global menu".
Can anybody help me?
ps. global menu is different with app menu and directory menu
Where is Global Menu in Lubuntu 18.04?
Re: Where is Global Menu in Lubuntu 18.04?
Have you tried clicking the icon that is usually on the very left of the panel?

you're referring to application menu, I'm asking about global menu. Menu like file, edit, view in a window, I want to place it in the panel

What you are talking about is probably unique to the application that you have open such as Firefox or PCMan. I do not believe that there is an option to place such in the LXPanel.

well, thank you for clarifying that.forzahorison wrote:you're referring to application menu, I'm asking about global menu. Menu like file, edit, view in a window, I want to place it in the panel
this feature does not exist in the LXDE desktop environment.
You want GNOME or macOS.

Can anyone make or add that feature for LXDE, because it would be very awesome.drooly wrote:this feature does not exist in the LXDE desktop environment.

why don't you just use GNOME then? install Ubuntu, it features GNOME by default.forzahorison wrote:Can anyone make or add that feature for LXDE, bcs it would be very awesome.

I use lxde lubuntu because it's a light weight environment.drooly wrote:why don't you just use GNOME then? install Ubuntu, it features GNOME by default.

Re: Where is Global Menu in Lubuntu 18.04?
the global menu requires very tight integration between applications & the overall desktop environment (DE).
AFAIK currently only KDE and GNOME offer this (for GNU/Linux).
and while this is not directly a resource question, i'm pretty sure that such tight integration would have significant overhead and thus LXDE wouldn't be lightweight anymore if it did that.
