I have network access, NetworkManager says I don't

I am fairly new to Linux. I have a Raspberry Pi 400 with Raspbian buster and LXDE desktop. I have the NetworkManager App 1.8.20 running, and it reports that I have no network connections, even though I am connected via wifi to my home network, and I can browse the web.
So how can I fix this? I can switch to other desktops and I don't have the issue, although the others aren't running NetworkManager.
