I wonder if there is a way to have a calendar displayed on top of my wallpaper? I'd like to have something "layered" on top of it instead of searching for calendar desktop wallpapers every month... just wondering if there is a way to do that.

Not exactly what you were looking for, but if you click on the panel's clock, a calendar will pop up.
