some apps don't appear in the menu

hi there,

in my lxde-menu only a few apps are listed, many apps don't show but are in /usr/share/applications.
is there a way to get those in the menu too?
it worked in ubuntu (lxde 0.3 or so) but in gentoo (0.4) it don't work

The first thing to check is to look at the .desktop file for an OnlyShowIn restriction. The next thing is to see if the Categories are completely missing a value that would place it in one of the displayed categories. If that doesn't help, please post one of the failing .desktop files.
