Saving vertical space on a netbook

Post by snirk16 »

Hi

I have lubuntu on a netbook and I wish to save as much vertical screen real estate as possible.
I hate disapearing panels so I resized the panel to 20px. I also minimized the system fonts to 10pt.

Is there a way to get rid of the window title when it is maximized? the tesk bar is already telling me what program is in focus.
if not, maybe putting the title on the side of the window? I remember doing that but I don't recall if I did that in LXDE/OB.

Are there any other ways to save vertical space?

You can always move your lxpanel to the left or right side of the screen. I don't care for that but it might work for you. By the way welcome to the lxde forums.

You can set lxpanel and tint2 panels to stay under open windows. That way you can leave panel size bigger than 20 px, as large as you like, without losing window space. Just go to Panel Preferences>Advanced, and make sure the 2 boxes in Properties are not ticked. See http://lxlinux.com/#4.

Windows geometry can be edited in general in /usr/share/themes/xyz/openbox-3/themerc, where xyz is the theme name. See http://lxlinux.com/#3.
