Is their any way to control the PCM volume instead of the Master volume using the Volume Control icon ?? The only way I can do it is to use gnoem-mixer and it kinda defeats the purpose of having a volume control button handy...
My reason behind this is because some hardware gets distorted when PCM is all the way up and you are controlling the master volume, so to combat this I control PCM and have Master all the way up instead for clearer sound...
LxPanel Volume Control, PCM not Master...
Re: LxPanel Volume Control, PCM not Master...
I have been searching for few hours for the same issue.
Some say there is no way to change it in lxpanel without chnging the code and recompilation.
Everyone suggest installing volwheel. But it seems to be dead project with last update in 2010.
And I wasn't able to find deb package. Arch users have it in AUR though.
I give up. Haven't found an acceptable solution.

what's wrong with 2010? if it works there's no need to develop it further.Everyone suggest installing volwheel. But it seems to be dead project with last update in 2010.

apart from that, there's at least 5 more systray volume utilities.
just open synaptic package manager and search around.
