automatically populate LXDE menu?

Post by tomSloan »

So, I'm running arch, fiddled with the lxde-rc.xml file to try and get keybindings to work, screwed it up, reinstalled lxde, and now have everything working just fine except for the menu only has two items: "run" and "logout." I was wondering if there's an easy (or atleast semi-easy) way to get all of the menu items back in there. This is not really critical because pretty much everything is accessible via the run command and I usually access that with keyboard bindings. So, if I have to manually add each item, I might just not (though it could give me some very nice introspection into what's involved in this desktop envioronment).

Any suggestions?

You might try a little googling because I seem to recall seeing a procedure for auromatically adding new openbox menu applications when the application is installed. I know the razor-qt desktop with Openbox is set-up that way (Seehttp://linuxiarze.pl/forum/?mingleforum ... opic&t=336.). Also, see http://lxlinux.com/openbox.html for a copy of a fairly extensive lxde menu.xml. Once a base menu.xml is set-up, I prefer to edit it directly. It is a good idea to have several ways to launch applications.
