files are lost after a power outage

I have suffered a sudden power outage and my computer has turned off instantaneously.
It occured while I was using iceweasel. Nevertheless I had the Pcman window open and showing the content of the folder '"Photos".
Later today, I have turned on again the laptop to find that the 26 files in the folder "Photos" are gone. Also the Desktop background image is gone.
I think the last thing I did with Pcman (half a hour before the power outage) was precisely to move those 26 files from another containing folder into the folder "Photos".

If it is possible and not too difficult, I would like to have them back. But it is not necessary.
