Memory RAM - Taking the ps :)

Post by Ziggi »

Hey Guys,

Have you taken the ps recently? Well, I often take the ps :)
In LXTerminal of course…. type ps into terminal or…
More useful to see which process are using most type or Copy+Paste...
ps -o rss,comm --sort=-rss ghx
Remember in LXTermnal paste is Ctrl+Shift+v :)

We all know the command free -h or htop (if installed)
How about the simple command top ? Or even btop (if installed) :geek:

Far simpler to install ‘hardinfo’ System information and benchmark tool :)
Best to install from Synaptic Package Manager.
It will be added to your System Tools menu as System Profiler and Benchmark 8-)
You will get results similar to this…. https://imgur.com/a/jx3ADia

However understanding the results is not as simple as obtaining them and how to trim them down, even less so – (if required) :?:

No doubt each of us have unique reasons for utilising all or parts of the traditional super efficient LXDE setup. :geek:
In the world of auto-sport bloat, excess-baggage and inefficiency are not tolerated – championships are won or lost by macro negation of such. So when I initially switched from Trisquel MATE to Trisquel-mini LXDE dropping from 400MB down to 112MB RAM used, I became a fan(atic) in an instant and in true auto-sport tradition set about taking it to the extreme. Hence mini-MAX was born which now is simply Antix+LXDE (Full 22 version with all the menu)
This constitutes ‘good fun’ to my mind especially when competing with the likes of the owner of Antix and his disciples or STÆMPUNK TV.

STÆMPUNK TV thinks 274MiB is truly phenomenal – I say: Heavy Dude! :( – what would he make of over 100MiB less? Truly awesome? lol
Could someone tell him – please :)
