Hello
I'm on a HP Notebook, with Windows 11. I've been attempting to install Debian LXDE on an external Dell USB SSD and the issue is that after writing the .iso to a separate USB the BIOS doesn't seem to recognize that USB as bootable. I've written the .iso with Rufus and UNetBootin onto the USB but for whatever reason it's not bootable. I also just burned it to a CD/DVD and it doesn't recognize that as bootable either.
The oddest part is that other computers have recognized USB's with Debian LXDE written on them as bootable. Just not mine. Other distros work (I've taken a peak at Mint, openSUSE, Fedora, Puppy, and Kali) but my HP doesn't seem to like Debian.
Secure boot is off, and I can't really find anything online regarding my issue. Any advice?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Issue with trying to install Debian LXDE
Recommend that you ask your question on the Debian forums, https://forums.debian.net/ . LXDE is merely a desktop environment, not an operating system. Your problem deals with the OS not LXDE.

Re: Issue with trying to install Debian LXDE
My old 2008 HP G60 is happy running Debian based AntiX – LXDE for many years and has run Trisquel, Arch distros, Zorin etc.
If you are really stuck head on over to -
https://jeffmcneill.com/debian-lxde-installation/
which was updated in June of this year – or
https://dquinton.github.io/debian-insta ... enbox.html
Or - https://wiki.debian.org/LXDE
If you want the simplest solution that I know of just quickly install Loc-OS
It is a Debian based distro, is systemd free and wonderfully fast LXDE version ready to download
From there you should be able to create a bootable Debian USB drive.
Hope this helps? Good Luck
ps I played with Debian LXDE for a month and found it to be so slow and inefficient with resources. Sure I improved the basic install a little but quickly ground to a halt
Then the Boss of antiX kindly put me out of my misery; saying that I would never achieve the efficiency of Debian-antiX as antiX did not call on so many services and was systemd free.
Your own research should confirm he was quite correct.

Some HP devices are known for having quirks with certain Linux distributions.big tower tiny square In this case, using a different Linux distribution or running Debian in a virtual machine might be a workaround.
