LXDE panel bug

Post by intelliZ »

Hello,

I'm using LXDE on Gentoo. Was there any confirmed fix if you start opening more windows the tray/date gets cut off on the right. I know I can group the windows as a short term fix but wondering if others are experiencing this? I found another thread on it but doesn't give a permanent fix and it's locked.

Thanks

I’m using Debian based Loc-OS & AntiX-LXDE.
I have tried to replicate your issue by opening many different aps and windows.
When they reached the right hand side where I have volume, network, date-time and battery charge indicator – the tray items just get progressively shorter as you add more.
It works in this desired way because in the GUI Panel Preferences – under tab: Panel Applets Currently Loaded Plugins the ‘Task Bar (Window List) - ‘Stretch Box” is checked (ticked). This makes the window list stretch or contract like elastic. Hope this is the cure you need?
I have the tray items (window list) set to 150 pixels maximum with 1 pixel spacing – you could reduce this to 50 or so but ultimately you would still have same problem.
Right click the tray to get 'task bar window list settings'
As I am using the standard LXDE panel without any issues I think problem and its solution lie with gentoo :|

It's possible that newer versions of LXDE or its components might have addressed this, but given the age of that forum thread, it's also possible the issue persists in some configurations. that's not my neighbor
