Using Docky or Cairo with LXDE

Post by axcraig »

Hi,

I am very new to LXDE. I have previously been an Ubuntu/Gnome user.

I am trying to setup a dock bar in Lubuntu 10.10. I have added @xcompmgr and @docky to the autostart file but still get black boxes around my docks and a message from docky saying I need to enable compositing.

Can anyone help? Are there better solutions than using Docky, Cairo, Awn for a good looking dock type interface?

I only recently started using Docky and enjoy using it. I know there are reasons not to use it (Mono etc) but I like its look and simplicity. How resource heavy is it? Will it slow down my LXDE experience considerably.

Thanks for the help.
