Hi!
I don't know if this is the proper place on the forum to post this (if so, please move it), but I found today an interesting app - USBManager.
It notifies about plugged usb devices, (so it is good because lxde don't have any panel applet for this), shows devices info and more. It requires python, but I think it isn't too much. Project's homepage: https://launchpad.net/usbmanager/ . I think lxde users will like it.
