asked for password for ssh key every time

Hi,
Some info:
Login-manager: gdm (until i get rid of it)
Distro: Arch
Problem: Every time I log into remote servers, run scp, sshfs or similar, i am asked for the password for the ssh-key "Enter passphrase for key '/home/gert/.ssh/id_rsa': " This is quite inconvenient, to put it very mildly. As I login with gdm, seahorse is running, and my login keychain is unlocked (thunderbird etc. uses stored passwords without a hitch) So what is the problem, and how to fix it?
