lxde broken on opensesuse 11.1 after zypper dup

Hi,
I had a working lxde install from this repo:

http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... SUSE_11.1/

Displaymanager was kdm.

After a zypper dup from several repos lxde was broken.
After login all I saw was the desktop image - abs no functionality. The only route out was.
ctrl+alt+bkspc+bkspc

I tried unitalling lxde, re-installing, from the above repo as well as:

http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... nSUSE_11.1

Now I don't even get to see the desktop's wallpaper, the kdm login screen just cycles back to kdm login screen.
Using lzdm all I see is the grey opensuse login screen.
Using openbox as window manger makes no difference either.
I've also tried all combination of startx and startlxde in ~/.xinitrc

Would _really_ appreciate /any/ suggestions about how to proceed.
KDE/Gnome are not options, that take 800/900 MB just to startup :)

TIA
hh

OK so now I have upgraded to opensuse 11.2 and even updated lxde from the dev repo listed earlier....
Still no working LXDE. I am at least now able to use lxdm as dektop manager ans I set window manager to be openbox-lxde

All I see now when booting is the LXDE desktop image, no menus no icons, no right click functionality. Only route out is ctl+alt+backspace+backspace

Appreciate any suggestions.

Seems either the pcre library is not compiled with utf8 support and or enable-utf8 is not invoked at run time....

I have logged a bug report:

https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=d ... tid=894869

In the mean time can anyone suggest how to fix this or suggest a work around?
