different wallpaper for each desktop

Hi,

Searches in help and forum didn't bring me any answer, so I think it's not possible, but I would like to check if there is (or will be) a way to have a different wallpaper on each desktop, so user can visually distinguish the current desktop ?

I've tried to mess in ~/.config/pcmanfm/main.lxde with the entry

Code: Select all

[Desktop]
show_wallpaper=1
wallpaper=<image name>
but it seems it only accepts a logical value (0 | 1)

Regards,
Sebas

Sebas, the unmasked KDE-user 8-)

I thought it was a basic feature of the multiple desktops, I didn't know it was a KDE's exclusivity

Yes, I'm a KDE 3.x user since 2002 and Mandrake 9. With the end of the 3.x cycle, it's time for me to switch of desktop-manager (or even windows manager). I don't like KDE 4, too heavy and too Windows-like for me.

I'm trying Lxde and Xfce (with a preference for Lxde, obviously ;-)), and I'll give a try to really different things like xMonad

Well, anyway, this feature (different wallpaper for each desktop) is nÂș 1 on my wishlist ;-)

All the best,
Sebas
