[Solved] newbie needs help with autostarting samba

Hi all
I am trying the lxde version of pclinuxos 2010. Brilliant so far but....
I don't know how to get samba to run each time I boot. At the moment I am manually opening a terminal, switching to root and typing /etc/init.d/smb start (or /usr/bin/samba start). Obviously this only lasts until I reboot.
I have read up a bit on autostart and as I understand it, I have to create an *.desktop file and stick it in ~/.config/autostart. I have had a look at some of the ones already on the PC and searched for a ready made one. What I am not sure of is how do I get the file to execute when it requires root authority?
Could someone just help me get started. I am happy to try to write it myself.
TIA
