Does gvfs need to be installed to automount a usb drive?

Here's my specs:

1. Running Slackware 13.1 with OpenBox 3.4.11.2
2. Compiled libfm-0.1.12, menu-cache-0.3.2 and pcmanfm-0.9.7
3. Dbus is running and I ran this cmd: cp /etc/xdg/autostart/polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1.desktop ~/.config/autostart
4. These are the groups I'm in /etc/groups:
haldaemon:x:82:sar
plugdev:x:83:sar
power:x:84:sar

When I plug a usb hard drive in it is not auto mounting, so I'm not sure what to do to get it to work. Do I need gvfs to have auto mount work?

When I run pcmanfm from a term I get this reply back:

** (pcmanfm:21770): DEBUG: try automount

THANKS

i love lxde but these two things that sound funny but are impartitve for what i am working on
the first plugin i suggest is to put an gnome applet into the lxdepanel the second is to have an iconified application list plugin for the panel if i had these two things id be able to ditch xfce that would be heaven if its doable great if not or wrong place to make this post please gently correct me and help me to get this to the eyes whom needs to see it thanks in advance
