LXPanel Volume Control Panel

I'm using TinyMe which comes with LXPanel installed. I'm using the alsa linux drivers and the sound on my computer works. Today I upgraded LXPanel to 0.5.5-3 in the Smart Package Manager. Before I updated there was no volume control applet but when I try and use the one that appeared after the update it makes the panel disappear. Is there a solution or workaround?

Thanks in advance for your replies :)

I fixed a bug today that could have been causing that.

Can you run alsamixer in a terminal and tell me what card, chip, and playback devices you have.

Card: HDA ATI SB
Chip: Realtek ALC262
Playback I assumed you meant which showed up when playback was selected with F3: Master, Headphone, Speaker, PCH, Mic, Mic Boost, Beep

Nothing out of the ordinary there. If "try git head" is within your technical skills, you could do that, since I fixed something in the last couple of days, but it does not look like it would be happening in your case. If "ssh in and run the panel under gdb to see why it is crashing" is within your technical skills, you could do that.
