Just did a fresh install and I dont have a package manager or program installer, synaptic or add/remove. I tried sudo apt-get synaptic but that didnt work. I would like to have the synaptic and add/remove that ubuntu uses, can I get some help
I need this mostly for ndiswrapper for my old laptops wireless card. I am using a wired connection now.

on the install it said it failed to get apt or something. I have installed it a couple of times and I still get that message. I suspect that may be the problem

so far I like the desktop environment.

so is this Ubuntu you are using ? When you say you tried apt-get synaptic and it failed, how exactly did it fail ?

Umm, Ubuntu without synaptic, what have you done?

Dude are you still having this problem or did you figure out what caused it?
