Configure LXTerminal (fgcolor and bgcolor)

Post by Sigrid »

Hi all,

I am new to LXDE and am using it on a rather outdated Compaq Armada (800 MHz, 256 MB) running Debian Testing (Lenny). It works well for me, but I don't like the default colouring of LXTerminal very much. I searched the net and found out that it should be possible to configure LXTerminal but couldn't figure out how to do it. I ended up with a config file lxterminal.conf and no clue how to proceed in changing the background colour to white and the font colour to black.

Any help is highly appreciated for I want to get rid of gnome-terminal:-).

Thanks in advance,
Sigrid

It's a bit late, but anyway, I can do it from menu Edit - Preferences.

Hello, Surgat,

thank you very much for replying.

By choosing EDIT-PREFERENCES I can see a register named "General", where I can change font, etc.
Definitely there is no means to change background-, foregroundcolor.

Maybe we are using different flavours of the same program?

Hi

If you are using LXTerminal 0.1.3 then you won't find them, in LXTerminal 0.1.4 There are these option.

Thank you, maces!

I'm using lxterminal 0.1.3 - and that means, I am lost, doesn't it?
There is no way to alter the colours in that version, I suppose.

In 0.1.3 it's not possible. Just update to 0.1.4 as soon as possible. Btw, what distro are you using? If you distro doesn't provide LXTerminal 0.1.4 try ton compile it from svn.

Thanks again for clarifying:-)

I am running Debian stable (Lenny) and AFAIK Debian is not well known for providing bleeding etch software. Albeit I would value a greater range of settings than those at hand, this wouldn't tempt me to look for an upgrade. Some day we will have Squeeze instead of Lenny...

I have the exact same setup as the original poster.
Will the later versions of LXTerminal be available for Debian/Lenny/LXDE users?

PS. I would also love to see LXTask as a .deb package.

Cheers,
Martin
