Just installed LXDE -- very much like what I see so far -- gnome and ubuntu seem to be heading off together in the direction of too much pointless nonsense, much nicer to have simple and fast.
However, I have a problem that sounds stupid: how do I change the colour of either my volume control, or my digital clock? I have them sitting next to each other on the panel, and as it stands, one is black and the other is white. I can't find a decent panel colour (apart from bright red) that they're both visible on.
I don't really care which I change, I don't care what colour my panel is (apart from bright red). But can't I change either? Or am I just being stupid?

Re: Colour of volume control / digital clock
I'm using a pair of lime green (#BEDE8F) panels - all of my icons and the clock text seem to show up reasonably well.
