I'd like to have my computer go to sleep/suspend upon shutting the lid, and have it awaken when the lid is opened. I have an IBM ThinkPad T60, and it can do this in Windows and Gnome. Is there any way to add this functionality to my LXDE setup?

Keep in mind that I do not run any rpm distros so just stabbing in the dark here. I imagine you have enough /swap to use this feature in Fedora also which I am guessing you are talking about from your other posts since you don't mention distro used in this thread..

What OS are you using? Try this;
-Open your file manager.
-Go to /usr/share/applications
-Find the Power Management icon and double click

From there you should be able to adjust things easily.

Preferences/Power Management is the Gnome Power Manager if installed.

I tried this, and it was not successful.

I have the package called gnome-power-manager installed, but that does not offer a GUI for power management.

I'm using Fedora 15, which normally relies on Gnome. No such icon exists in that location. There was an icon for power statistics (yacpi), which was interesting, but not very helpful.

So is power management something that is left to the distro to handle?

Ahh...my instructions were for Lubuntu. This is probably distro specific. Maybe hop on the fedora forums and ask there?

Hi there worker201 :)

I haver edited your Topic's Subject so everyone can tell when Distribution you are using :)
Please, try to mention that next time to make it easier for us to help you without assuming.

As for your issue, I'd like to help but I don't have a laptop that I can try that on. Have you done some search on Google or Fedora's Forum?
