Can't remove Leafpad

Have installed Medit and removed Leafpad, but it has somehow got installed again along with other unwanted apps like LXMusic and XMMS2.
On a (presumably) related point, I've got all those Audacious, Abiword, Gnome Mplayer and Gnumeric entries in /etc/xdg/lubuntu/applications/defaults.list, all of which I've replaced with Libre, MPD, VLC and SMplayer. Should or can I edit all those entries accordingly as well?
