Can I assign a single key to quit apps instead of using CTRL-q?

I am not aware of a single keyboard stroke that will close an application, but since the question has been asked I did a search and found this site:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/KeyboardShortcuts
which led me to two more sites:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Table_of_k ... _shortcuts
http://www.tuxfiles.org/linuxhelp/shortcuts.html
Neither of which seems to answer the question. Sorry.

Thanks for trying to help. Very kind of you.
And those links are helpful all the same.

Not a problem. Remember Google is your friend and Googlubuntu is your best buddy. There is a great deal of information out there and much of it can be discovered with a simple search. I'll keep looking but it doesn't look good. However, keep the thread open. Someone with more knowledge than I have may come along and give you an answer. Enjoy.

Yes, in fact, I'd googled a bit before posting, but haven't come across those pages, some similar ones though not as good as those.
