Theme does not work for all apps

Hi! I;m using L'Ubuntu - using various themes (Elementary studio, NOX, whatever) - they work great for most applications (LibreOffice, Audacity, Gnome Commander, etc.) but refuse to work on some applications (Gnome Player, Synaptic, AbiWord). Any ideas? (QTConf had a setting to use the GTK theme but this did not work; idk if these are QT apps or not anyway....)
