Hello,

I've just started to use two monitors (dual monitor). The two monitors are treated as a very wide, single screen. There is only one taskbar. There is only one desktop.

Now, I want to change that. I want virtual desktop 1 to be displayed on monitor 1 and virtual desktop 2 on monitor 2. In other words, I want a separate taskbar in each monitor and I want the same desktop icons to be show in each monitor. How can one do this?

With an extended desktop monitor setup, you can achieve dual separate panels by using 2 panels, adjusting the geometry of each so that one sits on one monitor and the other sits on the second monitor. You would have to create a different desktop setting than extended to achieve your other desire. Have a look at http://lxlinux.com/#4.
