lightdm - user icon for login screen LXDE, XFCE, Lubuntu

Hi,

Trying desperately to change my login icon for the lightdm greeter. Im using Lubuntu 13.04
I have the same problem with this in XFCE on Fedora 19

I have tried adding a 96x96 jpeg called ".face" (without the extension) to the home directory and it didnt work for the login screen. Although the icon did show up in the "Users and Groups" System Tool as the home user.

I have tried copying a 64x64 png called "myFace.png" to /usr/share/icons/64x64/devices
Installing and running: gtk-update-icon-cache
editing: /usr/share/lxdm/themes/1304-Lubuntu/greeter.ui and changing the property for 'image1' which is "Login.png" to "myFace" (without the extension)
However, this also did not work!

So, how do we get the user icon for the login screen to work?
