GeForce 210 and Lubuntu 13.04-64

Hello,
I have a dual-core machine with Lubuntu 13.04 installed. Yesterday, I bought a Zogis GeForce 210 video card, but can't get any resolution better than 800x600 (the onboard chipset was able to provide me 1024 x 768, but I want a resolution higher than that). I tried everything. I downloaded the latest Nvidia driver from the chipset maker's site. I tried several hints I have found in Google, including
sudo apt-get install nvidia-current nvidia-settings
but the Nvidia X Server Settings refuses to provide video display resolutions higher than 800x600.
I need a step-by-step guide on how to successfully configure the video card.
Can someone help me out? Thanks in advance!
