lxpanel vertical support

Hi. My screen is wider than taller (like everyone has). So I'm using my panel on vertial mode.

I'm using Lubuntu for a really long time and this is the main thing that bothers me with LXDE:

Some icons on lxpanel are hidden. And for example the network when I'm on wifi is really pain. I've added screenshots. One where the icons are hidden and the second where they are visible.

I want to see them all.

Thanks!

Welcome to the lxde forum. I am not sure why the network indicator icon is not visible on the first picture. Why do you have different widths for the LXPanel on the two pictures? Does that have anything to do with the problem? If you move the LXPanel to the bottom or the top does the problem persist? How about to the right side? Which version of Lubuntu are you using? Did this problem just present itself or has it been around since install?

Hi Rex,

thank you for your reply. In my screenshots, I just wanted to show that there are hidden icons on the panel with smaller width and I want to have them on the eyes all the time.

- The problem is the same on the right side.

- There is no problem on top and bottom position.

- My Lubuntu is 13.04 (and this problem was observed maybe in 12.04, in 12.10 for sure. maybe even 11.10 or 11.04).

- My LXPanel is in version 0.5.12.

- The problem is since install. First thing I do is moving the panel to the left side.

May I please ask you, for a screenshot with panel on the left side with 20px width? Or - is this bug just for my computer?

Edit: The whole problem is in the "Indicator applets". It seems that there is absolutely no support for vertical panel.
Edit2: If this is really a bug I will try to fix it on my own. I've downloaded the source code of that applet already.

Wow. You go back with Lubuntu when it was a really bad distro just like I do. I have attached a screen shot of my screen as requested. However, my version is 13.10 and as a result the LXPanel is 0.6.1. As you can see my network indicator icon is also hiding.

edit: If you don't have that problem on the top or the bottom. There has to be something about the sides that is causing the problem. I decreased the size of my panel until it was very small and the icons as well and the network indicator never showed.

Lubuntu was never worse than Unity :) I really miss the old Ubuntu with Gnome 2.

So. This seems to be really a bug. I'll try to post a bug or it repair on my own.

Thanks :)

You are correct. I used Ubuntu for a long time and then came Unity. I am not about to give up Lubuntu because of a few bugs that I can work around. Go ahead and file the bug and I will report that it also affects me.

OK nesro, I just added my response on Launchpad as affecting me as well. I don't think anything is going to happen until the new version release next year but who knows.
