Thanking you

Sir,
can you guide me as to how to access $ /.fonts folder in lxde
S.Nagarajan

Sir, When I tried to copy fonts in fonts folder, the fonts were not copied with the message ' permission denied'. Likewise, shutdown is also not allowed. Only log out is possible. How to gain permission to install external fonts.Guidance is required.

dear sir,
please put the font files in $HOME/.fonts and reboot.
afterwards, choose them with lxappearance.

if that is not enough, you have to tell us what kind of fonts you have there, what format they're in and so on.

I have no idea which Operating System that you are using. In Lubuntu, which is the LXDE version of Ubuntu, I believe that you can install fonts in this way.
Open a terminal and enter

Code: Select all

gksu pcmanfm /usr/share/fonts/truetype
The window that opens is a place for you to place your font files into. You will need to unpackage them to place each .ttf or .otf file in here.
(Optional) afterwards, do this command:
sudo fc-cache -f -v

Alternatively, you can install a tool to install or view fonts in Lubuntu, install this package:
gnome-font-viewer

To make things easier to read. Please reply rather than edit your first post. Then things will flow better for the reader.

Please do not send a private message for support. There are many reasons for a forum and among those is, it becomes a repository for solutions to problems or questions so that others many benefit when or if they have the same or similar problem or question.
I assume that you followed the instructions in the post above and you were not able to install the required fonts. Remember, that it requires root privileges. Installing fonts in Lubuntu is a little different from installing fonts in Ubuntu. Also 13.10 has reached its End Of Life and is no longer supported. If you are intend to stay with Lubuntu, recommend you download and install 14.04 which is a long term support version and will be supported for three years.
