Administrative user privilage

Post by Nagarajan »

Sir,
I have installed ubuntu 13.10 lxde in my tablet. I downloaded some unicode fonts and tried to copy the same in the font directory. I was not allowed to copy saying, I don't have permission to perform the action. Similarly, I tried to install Language support package from lubuntu software center. Though I was able to add the package in the apps basket, it could not be installed. The message reads as follows : You are not allowed to perform this action. You don't have privilege to perform this action.'
Can anybody guide me as to how to get Administrator privilages, so that I can install fonts and install 'language support' package in my tablet.

Almost all Linux Operating Systems allow the first user to have administrative privileges for a limited amount of time. Having root privileges allows you do do anything to your system to include destroy it. That is why you must ask for it and then enter your password.
In the first place Lubuntu 13.10 is no longer supported. It has reached its End Of Life. If you intend to stay with Lubuntu you must install Lubuntu 14.04 which is the only Lubuntu version that is currently supported.

Secondly, you were given instructions on how to accomplish your desired actions to include obtaining administrative privileges. By entering gksu you were asking for admin privileges. If that did not work you should have told us along with any error messages that you received. Starting a new thread with the same problem only confuses readers and is not a way to get your question answered. This is a small forum with an even smaller number of active volunteers who use their spare time to attempt to provide assistance to those people who have problems with their Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment or components of it.

Thirdly, your previous two threads have been closed.
