lxterm, nano, and paste: wrong line [solved]

Using lxterm and nano on a new debian wheezy lxde installation I have a problem with shift-ctrl-v paste. Text pastes to the wrong line - several lines below where I have the cursor set. I am not sure if the problem is lxterm, nano or whatever clipboard is being used. Shift-insert pastes to the correct line, but that is not a binding my muscel memory supports. Edit menu paste also works, but is not something I like using.

Has anyone come across this behavior and figured out what to do about it? It may be easiest to install another terminal. xterm is already installed but I believe it doesn't support shift-crtl-v paste. Best.

nano has its own keybindings. maybe one of them somehow interferes with shift+ctrl+V.
time to change your muscle memory i guess.
btw, middle mouse click also does the same as shift+insert.

That's it. ctrl-V is "go to next screen" in nano.
But very strange that through successive linux installations over several years it has always worked.

no, time to reconfigure keybindings in nanorc. And definitely no to the mouse.
