I got LXDE installed in Opensuse 11.1 but when I select it from the session menu on the logon screen and enter my PW to logon all I get is gibberish or snow I guess you could call it (like one of those old television sets). Where did I go wrong?

Hi

KDE/Gnome/Xfce working well? Seems to me, that this is an X11 error. I had a similar problem with Ubuntu. Please check you Xorg.conf and post the output of "/var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep EE".

Meaning that:

If so, that is afair the "default" background of the XServer, if not other set. Means that your X starts well, but LXDE or whatever session you choosed is not setting another background.
Maybe try to reinstall LXDE? Some config file might have gone wrong.
