Lubuntu 12.04 Chrome ssl error

Hello, I have installed Lubuntu 12.04 on an older IBM Think Pad, I am using it to post from Chrome Browser, but many sites that are https error out, mainly google, but also others. This version of Chrome does not have the "wrench" up top, to get under the hood. Any clues??

In the first place Lubuntu 12.04 has reached EOL a couple of years ago. While Ubuntu 12.04 was a LTS release, the Lubuntu release was not. The first Lubuntu LTS version was 14.04. I am not sure if that has anything to do with your problem. In any event it has not received any security updates since roughly early 2013. I would recommend that you install a newer version if you want to stay with Lubuntu.

My original install was a work around the PAE issue with my hardware, the 14.04 upgrade helped me with a generic PAE. 14.04 installed today and ssl problem gone. Thank you!!!!
