LXDE doesn't save settings on exit

I thought it's just screen resolution, but it's also the case with muted volume control. Whenever I reboot, LXDE starts in predefined resolution and muted speakers. I just installed it today so wonder what else is not being saved.

How can I make the settings stick?

Hi

Are this the only changes, which aren't saved? Please have a look at this wikiarticle for Alsa Sound. AFAIK screen reselution is not saved by LXDE. Are you using GDM or KDM for login?

btw: What System are you using? Version?

So far, I have not found any other settings that are not being saved.

I am using GDM. Is KDM better? In fact, I'd be glad to get rid of any login manager as this is single-user, autologin machine.

This is build on Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04 i386 installed from minimal ISO.
Hardware is Pentium II 400Mhz, 384MB RAM, ES1869 on-board ISA soundcard.

Hey, hey. This tip from ALSA wiki solved my volume problem. Thanks!

But I still wonder if I can remove all login managers.

You can, but then you'll have to login via command line and start X manually, or use a script that start X when you login via console.

I tried using autologin scrip from ubuntu forums, but apparently it is no longer possible since 9.04 (security reasons my butt).
