dual monitor, two desktops
Hello, I've just started to use two monitors (dual monitor). The two monitors are treated as a very wide, single screen. There is only one taskbar. There is only one desktop. Now, I want to change that. I want virtual desktop 1 to be displayed on monitor 1 and virtual desktop 2 on monitor 2. In othe...

Re: How to set icons for apps. invoked from command line?
Thank you for your response. The application sets the icon that it wants on the taskbar into the _NET_WM_ICON property of its window. I see. That means there is no easy or systematic way to change those icons. I thought there were a more modern way like .desktop files. But, I think lxpanel could, in...

How to set icons for apps. invoked from command line?
Hi all, I'm wondering how to set an icon for an application invoked from the command line. Basically I want to know how lxpanel "knows" which icon to use. For example, when you type $ /usr/bin/emacs22 the taskbar (lxpanel) shows the icon of emacs. How does the panel know which one to use? ...

Re: LXDE and KDE 3.5-applications
that the developers in Debian-testing wanted to force me from a good and supple running KDE3.5 into a still unripe KDE4. Wow. You are exactly in the same state as I was many months ago. I did make the switch from KDE3.5 to LXDE and has been happy with the latter. Regarding your specific questions, ...

Re: Desktop icons disapear
Before filing a bug report, if I am reading your post correctly, you might want to consider that your LXDE version is over a year old. Thanks for pointing that out. Francesco, what's your version? I don't want to download and install the latest version; I'm totally relying on the Debian package arc...

Re: Desktop icons disapear
Yes, I have also seen that sometimes and already asked that. (http://forum.lxde.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=541) Thanks for your response. Yes, I noticed your thread after I posted mine. I should've been more careful. So, it may be worth filing a bug report, although I'm not sure if it will help th...

Desktop icons disapear
Hi there, I've just noticed that all icons have disappeared from my Desktop. In my ~/Desktop, there are still files that used to be displayed on the Desktop. Exactly the same thing happened a few days ago on my other PC. Has anybody seen this problem? Is it worth submitting a bug report? I'm using t...

Re: Howto choose the Default Browser?
my default browser is IceWeasel(Firefox), i use Debian testing, where i can make the iceweasel my default browser? As a root, # update-alternatives --config x-www-browser and choose iceweasel. LXDE simply uses the application "x-www-browser", which in fact is a symbolic link to whatever b...

autostart not working
Hi there, I'm struggling to get the autostart working for some applications. Let me take skype as an example. I wish skype to start at login. So, $ cd .config/autostart/ $ ln -s /usr/share/applications/skype.desktop But this doesn't work. Strangely there are applications that work in a similar way, ...

launch bar execs wrong app
Hi there, I've added a .desktop file (~/Desktop/emacs22-gtk.desktop) to the launch bar: (right click) > "Application Launch Bar" Settings > Add and then I choose the .desktop file. The emacs icon appears in the launch bar. If you click on the icon, emacs is launched, but not the version sp...
