Running obconf from the CLI allows me to configure the desktop pager to have multiple desktops (I prefer about five or six). For my interface, I prefer a single vertical panel on the left hand side and no other panels (no horizontal bottom panel). In the vertical panel on the left hand side, desktop...

I, for one, would be use this forum more frequently were it accessible via gmane. Is this possible?

thanks, obconf did the trick. In ubuntu I had to install it first, though. It did generate some errors when run from the command line, for what it's worth.

Why two different ways to configure a panel/applet, though?

can you change the desktop pater settings to display 3 or 4 desktops instead of 2? That option is grayed out
