Fonts are too big
Fonts are too big
I have a problem with font size after installing LXDE in Ubuntu 9.04, they appear very large. Even if I select point size 8 or 9 for the UI, they're still ridiculously large. I've actually tried several Openbox distros and I've had this problem every time. I've tried several things, like adjusting DPI in xorg.conf. In Gnome there's an option to change DPI. I've looked everywhere and there doesn't seem to be an option like that in Openbox/LXDE. Is it possible to change this setting in a config file or something like that?
Re: Fonts are too big
Since I'm being pushed down by spam... Bump.

Hi
So the spam should be in trash now
AFAIK you can't set the dpi through an lx*dialog, but have you tried to set your screen resolution with lxrandr?

Poor spammers. They made such and effort and all.
No, setting the resolution with lxrandr didn't change anything.
Also note that I'm using a somewhat different computer, an EEEPC 904HD and it has a very small screen and the odd resolution 1024x600. Clearly the font size is meant for higher resolutions. I've also tried setting DPI in xorg.conf, xserverrc and in the fonts config file (can't remember the file name).
Any other ideas? LXDE is still the best desktop even with large fonts but it's somewhat irritating.

Re: Fonts are too big
I actually made some progress now. I realized I can change resolution using xrandr --dpi 96. The problem is, this doesn't affect the LXDE menu, only dialogs. Actually, the LXDE menu seem to run its own font renderer or something because it seems it's impossible to change the font size for it, at least in the GUI.
Re: Fonts are too big
I would suggest you can edit your X config (not only X.org), but better ask th devs at the IRC, this is only guessed.

Re: Fonts are too big
I tried a couple of xorg.conf options that seemed relevant but it didn't work. However, I think I'll leave it for now since I don't use lxpanel or the main menu anymore. I switched to tint2 + gnome-do, which suits me better, maces wrote:I would suggest you can edit your X config (not only X.org), but better ask th devs at the IRC, this is only guessed.
