Good evening community,
I am a systems integrator. I suport several customers. Currently they are on Gnome 2.3*. Soon, Gnome 3 is to be released and it breaks the typical desktop paradigm in not a good way. I am reviewing replacement DE's to move my customers to.
I installed LXDE to a VM. It's nice a quick. I see two issues that I need to resolve for my customer before I can deploy LXDE.
a) The lack of trash can support, be that on the desktop, or somewhere in a menu.
b) In tests, I found no easy way for an end user to modify their menus.
I am asking the community if there is a remedy for these situations. Perhaps I am overlooking something obvious.
In reading other posts though.....I suspect that there may not be a fix.
If there is no fix, may I respectfulyl ask if they are planned, and an approximate date when they will be released?
Sincerely and Respectfully,
Dave
Menu Items and Trash
Re: Menu Items and Trash
I discovered a solution for one item........
Install XFCE's thunar and gvfs.......and you'll have a trash can in it. It's not a "desktop" trashcan oer-se....but it is a layer of protection between an end user and a phone call to the tech department to recover an accidently deleted file.
Now as far as adding to the menu a custom launcher.... I still need help with this one.
Please?
Dave.
