gvfs mounts in ~/.gvfs folder

Post by tueurdecorneilles »

Hi,

I got a ratter odd question about the way pcmanfm handles gvfs mounts, concerning ipod Touch mounts.

First, I'm using ubuntu 10.04. I installed the last version of ubuntu to make iPod Touch working with rhythmbox. I wanted a slimmer desktop so I opted for lubuntu, wich is great.

When I use ubuntu (gnome) the iPod Touch gets mounted, and is visible on nautilus' panel (virtual), and in the filesystem at the same time (/home/user/.gvfs/iPod_name). This is great for using gtkpod since you need to have access to the mount point in the filesystem.

PCManFm does not create a mount point in ~/.gvfs. I don't know if that's the reason why I can't access the iPod with rhythmbox when using PCManFM as file manager. I tried nautilus inside lxde, and still, it doesn't mount correctly to show up in rhythmbox.

This is really obnoxious since I really don't want to install a full ubuntu-gnome desktop. Could it be because I don't have gvfs-fuse installed? Or it has to do with pcmanfm's way to handle gvfs?

I confirm, you need to install gvfs-fuse to have the ipod mounted in ~/.gvfs/ipod_name.

Should it be a pcmanfm dependency? I will fill a bug report to ubuntu package (gilir's build).
