power management solutions

Hi,

I know that power management is distro-related and not desktop-related.
But my distro (sabayon) doesn't have an lxde edition.
What is the best power management solution that I could implement after installing lxde and making it the default DE?
I need only basic things like suspend when lid is closed and lower cpu hrz when on battery.

I will claim that the absolute simplest thing you can do is use acpid directly.

I have on my back burner to start work on a way to do this graphically, but I need to get some other things finished and released first.
